GOT MYSELF SOMETHING! IBANEZ UEW20SME UKULELE!
Today is one of the happiest day of my 2014! I just got myself a Ukulele!
First of all, I love MUSIC! Music is my life. Most of the things I do involves music except at work, but sometimes I can't help it. when I wake up usually I will play with my guitar for a while, or play my mp3 player. On my way to work too or anywhere I go I listen to music. I have 2 Guitars at home. I have a Home studio too, Rode Microphone with stand, audio interface, Mixer etc. BUT! I never had a Ukulele before!
Okay, so Basically I don't know how to play a Ukulele. If you will ask me to play guitar, there would be no problem. But I don't know there is something with this Ukulele that made me come back and get it! So this is the story.
I was walking around at i12 Katong Mall looking for a furniture shop last wednesday, january 15, when i suddenly bumped into the Newly opened SWEE LEE Music Company. Yes I didn't know that there was a shop like that in there since it has been awhile since the last I went there. It is located at the Level 4 of the building.
Whenever I go to a music store, I always go straight to the Acoustic Guitars and never look for anything else. I was actually planning to get a New guitar but it made me think that "I already have 2 at home, so why getting a New one again?" I even messaged my man saying that I wanna get a new one and yes he say yes. But in the end, I still thought about being practical since I had a plan of moving house that is twice the rent I'm paying now. So I left and go.
When my guy came to pick me up, we went back to the shop to show him what was the guitar the I want, and when we was about to go, we saw some small guitars or they call it UKULELE at the entrance(which at first I really didn't notice when I first go in). Some will cost you around $90 to $120 dollars, some were $200 to $319 Sgd. The moment when I touched and tried strumming it made me wanna get one too! And the one that strikes me was The Ibanez Ukulele with built in pick up on it. And guess the price? It is $319.00!!! yes it was expensive for me who doesn't even know how to play it but I have a reason why I prefer that, and let me discuss that later on after the story. So on that very moment, I told myself I'm coming back for it.
The very next day(which is today), I was out with my friend to view the house that I was planning to move but I was a little disappointed with it so I decided to stay with my current one instead. After viewing, We went to parkway to shop somethings and before we go home, the ukulele popped-up in my mind again. So I asked my friend to come with me to check it again.
While on our way, I already told myself that I' gonna buy it since I do not have to pay for some sort of a deposit and etc for the house. So when we reached there, as usual I still went to the guitar area first and play around with some of it without giving the sales person an Idea that i'm buying a Ukulele. After strumming, I went to see it at the entrance. Until yes, I'm still mesmerize how beautiful it was! So i took it, asked the guy that I want new one, and swiped my card!
The guy who assisted was a little shocked when I told him that I didn't know how to play it. So he gave me some tips and tuned it for me.
The Ukulele has a built it pick-up and pre-amp on it as well as tuner, so that was one of the reason why I bought the most expensive one. I am done with buying cheap one then after few days or week I will aim for an expensive one again. It wasn't too practical so I suggest, If you want something, try getting the best one as you could. It happened to me all the time.
The Ukulele is made up of Spalted Maple wood top, back and side. Neck is made up of Mahogany, with a Cutaway Concert Style EW Body.
And now, I am trying to study it and I've learned It is not that easy! and I'm getting crazy right now. but yet, I'm enjoying it.
So that's the story of my first ever bought Ukulele by Ibanez.
