I've been to Dubai last January 2013 and like most of the Travelers, I have told myself I wont be coming back again to a place that I've been. But, last June 2014, while browsing in my instagram, I've seen this video of someone who did Tandem Skydive in Dubai and found it really exciting and challenging. That made me decided to go back after 22 months and try some adventures..again...
Skydiving or sometimes called Parachuting is the action sport of exiting an aircraft and returning to Earth with the aid of gravity, then slowing down during the last part of the descent by using a parachute. It is also referred as performing acrobatic maneuvers in the air under free fall before landing.
Several safety measure are taken to make skydiving as safe a s possible. Skydivers regularly check their gear too ensure that it is in good shape and condition., and most skydivers carry a backup parachute. In some cases, the back up will seploy automatically if a skydiver reahers a certain altitude. Both primary and backup prachutes are controlled with steering lines, allowing the skydiver to control his or her descent. Internationally, several organizations promote safe skydiving, offering classes and certifications in the sport.

Skydive Dubai is located between Dubai Marina and JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residences). They offers two drop zone, one is in the Dessert where only for experienced skydivers and the other one is the Palm Drop Zone where they conduct Tandem Skydiving. They are open all year round and due to the very scenic and breathtaking view of the palm and dubai marina, they are most widely people's choice for skydiving.
Okay so like what I just mentioned, Skydive Dubai is very popular around the world, so if you will choose to do your first ever Tandem Skydiving with them, it is suggested to book atleast 2 months before your planned date because of high volume of reservations they receive everyday. For one person/student it will cost 1,999AED(550USD) per jump that includes edited video and still images in a usb.

ON THE DAY OF MY JUMP (Oct 31, 2014)
Okay on the day of my jump, I was packed with other activities in Dubai so i was thinking if I can still change my booking time. I emailed them atleast one week before my actual jump to ask and good to know that their schedule was a bit flexible. I do not have to officially change my timing instead I could just come by anytime as long as not later than my actual time.
Tip: Skydive Dubai does not provide Pick up and Drop off transportation. If you are a tourist and one of your main reason in going to Dubai is to try Skydiving, I advice you to book your hotel near Dubai Marina or at Al Barsha area.
As I arrived there, I was asked to sign a waiver that consists of atleast 10 pages I guess? yes that was really long. Also, Passport or ID has to be presented upon arrival. After I finished signing, I was directed to the cashier to pay for the remaining 999AED of the booking fee and was given an ample time to relax and to look around. There's a small cafe outside, for those who wanted to get some sandwiches and coffee and tea first while waiting. They also provide lockers for you where you can keep your things during your session.
Tip: Want to wear or get some Skydive Dubai shirts? yes you can! They have a small souvenir shop inside, you can buy one shirt for 120AED. Wearing skydive shirt on your jump looks pretty cool as most of the Professional Skydivers are wearing too!
After almost an hour. My instructor already came and introduced herself. Yes, she was a Lady, unfortunately I've forgotten her name(might be because of too much excitement). Then the cameram was introduced to me as well, while she's getting ready with the harness. It is cool that Skydive Dubai provide someone else to take your video and going to jump with you and your instructor. This will gives more details with the surroundings and movements of each while your up in the air. Might be one of the reasons also why it is more expensive unlike any others whose cameras are just mounted to the instructor's wrist.
Note: Students are not permitted to bring and mount cameras on their body when they jump.
After a few minutes, she put the harness on me and I was given a proper training when jumping out the plane. Next was the camera man, he filmed a couple of questions with me., and after another 15-20 minutes, we're good to go!
INSIDE THE PLANE
Okay so we arrived at the runaway, we were the last to tandem to enter the plane. There were approximately 4 pairs inside and 3 freestyle divers. As the plane continue to soar higher, I was also getting more and more nervous yet excited. Igy(camera man) shoot some more clips before we jump. My instructor started attaching and tightening our harness together. When we reached the required altitude of 13,000 feet, freestyle skydivers started to exit out of the plane. I have mentioned on top that we were last tandem who entered the plane, so basically, we were the first tandem and I was the first student to jump out of the plane too! And at that very moment, my mind is freaking out.
Green light was on, we were ready. Camera man jumped out first and then followed by us. The feeling was so awesome upon freefall. I was shouting really hard but due to the pressure and speed I could not hear myself. Free fall lasts for 1 minute.
Piloting the canopy moment was breathtaking. You will have the full view of the the Palm as well as the city and Dubai Marina. At that very moment, I could not believe that I was up above looking at the scenery with my own eyes. It was extremely astonishing.
Tip: Do not look down too much. It might cause nausea on your part. Just relax and enjoy the view.
After 5 minutes of piloting the canopy, we were ready to land. Landing was the saddest part, because you know the trip will end really soon. The only thing to take note is to put your feet up, your legs or butt is the safest part of your body to use when landing as you might get hurt or worse, break your bones.
Overall the experience was really, really great! It was one of the best time of my life. As of now writing, I still have same feeling every time I recall my first ever Skydiving. You really have to try it at least once in a lifetime. Skydive Dubai is really a recommendation. If you wanna challenge yourself for a couple, save Skydubai for last. Expectation will be really high if you go other Skydive Centre after being there. Price was really a bit high, but if you will think of it, everything is for your own safety and experience. Really worth a try! Two thumbs up for Tandem Skydive Dubai!

- Age. You must be at least 18 years of age (by Gregorian calendar), please come with a valid ID.
- Clothes. Wear athletic and comfortable clothes, sneakers/sport shoes. No sandals, boots or high heels. Do not wear low cut tops, shirts with a collar or short shorts. No sleeveless shirts, only T-shirts with short or long sleeves.
- Weight. You MUST be within the weight limit (with clothing and shoes) and BMI (body mass index) limits or you will not be permitted to tandem skydive:
Ladies: Less than 198lbs/90kg; maximum BMI 27.5
Gents: Less than 220.5lbs/100kg; maximum BMI 30.0 - Hours of operation. Palm DZ operates all year round weather permitting
- Reservations. For everyone's convenience, the offer an online reservation system. A deposit of AED 999 is required to make your reservation. They accept Visa and MasterCard. The remaining balance will be paid when checking in on the day of your jump.
- Weather. Skydive Dubai is sensitive to weather. If the conditions are not perfect, your experience may take a little longer than the allotted time. If you are unable to skydive due to bad weather conditions, Your deposit is refundable. You may also move your reservation to a later date if there is space available in our schedule.
- Time. Plan to spend at least 3 hours for your experience. Your reservation time is your check-in time, not your jump time. Your photos and video will be ready approx. 45 min after your jump. For your comfort Skydive Dubai offers an air-conditioned sitting area and restaurant.
- Zero Tolerance. Absolutely no alcohol and/or drugs in your system 24 hours before making a tandem skydive.
- Scuba. Do not scuba dive 24 hours before your tandem skydive.

Done! I can't believe I just did Skydiving. Feeling can't be explained, I know it's called Adrenaline rush! We get back inside the waiting area to take out the harness, to relax and to wait for my video copy. After almost 40 minutes, the usb was ready for collection at the souvenir shop.
