My Travel Weapons

I love traveling and photography and I'm glad that they really fit together. Every time I leave the country for a holiday, I always make sure that I bring all my travel weapons --if not all, as much as possible the most important among all.

So far I have a total of 5 cameras not including my handphone, (of course!) one is a Digital single lens reflex or most commonly known as DSLR camera, two are point and shoot, one DSLR-like camera(which I just recently bought) and one action camera. Wondering why I have this much? It is because I use and bring whichever suits for my activities in a day. For example if I am going to the beach and do snorkeling, I would probably bring my action camera with me which I can use underwater too. If I am going for a dinner and would be carrying a small pouch with me, then I will bring one of my point of shoot. And a lot more reasons and excuses haha, that's how particular I am when it comes to this matter. By the way, I will discuss more details and reasons below so let's begin!

1. NIKON D5100 DSLR

Nikon D5100 Body
This is my second camera! But I considered it to be my stepping stone in photography! (My first was a Canon Digicam). I bought it in one shop somewhere in Bencoolen, Singapore.

Basic Specs:

Model Name: Nikon D5100
Resolution: 16.2 Megapixels
LCD: 3.0 inches swivel (side-swing) LCD

Nikon D5100 Body
Lens: 18mm - 105mm
Weight: Approx. 450g
Zoom: 5.8x

18mm-105mm lens

Inclusions:
-Li-Ion Battery
-Battery wall charger
-Camera Bag
-8 GB Memory Card
-Camera Strap

What I love most about this is the ability to flip the screen. I do cover some songs too so this feature really helps me a lot whenever I'm filming.

2. GOPRO HERO 3+ BLACK EDITION

GoPro Hero 3+ without accessories
This is one of my two favorite among all. A very small but powerful and versatile camera. I most of the time use it when I'm going extreme or underwater, or even when taking group selfie. I also bought it in the same shop where I bought my first DSLR.

Basic Specs:

Type: Action Camera
Resolution: 12 Megapixels
Frames: Up to 30 fps
Video: 4Kp 15fps
WiFi: Built in

Dimensions: 3.2 x 2 x 3 inches
GoPro Hero 3+ with attached LCD touch screen
GoPro Hero 3+ with standard housing(waterproof 30m)
Other than extreme adventures, you can also use this for landscape photography since it captures a wide angle with a fish eye effect (Note: you can disable fish eye effect in the settings).

3. NIKON COOLPIX P7800

This was bought by mistake? or let's just say without my plan about getting it. Although I wasn't really disappointed with it's picture quality and size. I was actually planning to buy the just released Sony RX100 iii, but then the sales agent recommended this 'hard' to me and my man was convinced enough of getting this instead since I'll get the same quality like the sony but in a very affordable price. So I ended up getting it instead of my original target.

Basic Specs:

Type: Point and shoot
Resolution: 12.2 Megapixels
Frame: Up to 8fps
Video: 1080 Full HD
Zoom: 7.1x
View Finder: Electronic
LCD: Tilting LCD Screen
Max Aperture: F/2.0
Total Price: $565 SGD

Inclusions:
-Nikon Brown Leather case
-8 GB Memory card
-2 Nikon Batteries
-Battery Charger

However, one reason why I was tempted to buy this was because it has a great quality of picture when taking macro shots. Also, it has the same battery and charger with my Nikon 5100. I bought it at Alan Photo Trading in Funan DigitalLife Mall.

4. SONY RX100ii

Unfortunately, I wasn't really contented with my Nikon Coolpix, maybe it's because that was not my original plan. I wanted to have the depth of field on each photo I take but something that I can bring everywhere without fuss and I know RX perform that based on the reviews that I read online. So after a week, I went back to the same shop, not able to return the Coolpix but at least getting a new one, again! Yes, but because I don't have enough at all, so instead of getting the 100iii, I bought the 100ii which is not really far different from the former.

Basic Specs:

Type: Point and Shoot
Resolution: 20.20 Megapixels
Max Aperture: F/1.8
Zoom: 3.6x
Weight: 281 gms
LCD: 3.0 inches tilting rear
Wifi: Built-in
Lens: 28-100mm, f/1.8-4.9 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens
Price: $874 SGD

Inclusions:
-2 Sony RX100ii Battery
-Sony Battery wall charger kit
-Sony Black Leather case
-Sony 16 GB Memory Card

Another thing I love about this cam is the ability to transfer files in your smartphone through its built in wi-fi. It makes easy for me to upload in any social media anywhere I am.

5. SONY ALPHA6000

Another Sony for my collection! Yes, this was very new! I bought it last October 29, 2015 and I was really happy with this! Oops wait, Sony RX provided me great shots, really and I am very much contented with that. But because I have a very itchy hand in getting a new cam, I have come to this not-so-new but great mirrorless camera. It has an interchangeable lens feature(which is really awesome) and not so heavy like a DSLR camera. I bought it at Alan Photo Trading too anyway.

Basic Specs:

Type: Mirrorless E-mount camera
Resolution: 24.3 Megapixels
LCD: 3.0 inches tilting screen
View Finder: Electronic View Finder
Lens: Interchangeable lens
Price: $1,015 SGD

Inclusions:
-Sony ILCE 6000 Camera body
-Sony 50mm F/1.8 Telephoto (Prime Lens)
-Sony Camera Bag
-Sony 16 GB Memory card
-49 Slim UV Filter
-Screen Protector
-2 Sony Batteries
